Clavelvys Suárez.
The work of Clavelvys Suárez (Diploma of the Cuban Academy of Fine Arts “San Alejandro”) stands out due to its special interest in revealing those realities that are unknown to us or rejected by us as a consequence of our own prejudices, recreating the beauty of feminine shape with an ample use of curved lines in order to avoid angles in the same way the nature does.
She resorts to the expressive language of, at one time, pure color while at other times she superimposes layers resulting in a range of expressive shades wherein the curved line plays a dominant role. At times, she substitutes the spatula for the paintbrush, defining thus the wavy forms, while arriving at an engaging and sober statement of color.
The result is, in general, a mixture of eroticism and informality, sometimes, with an abstract base. Experimenting has its own place in her work. She goes on an untiring search of those “inner waves” hiding inside of each being, revealing secrets and identities while undressing the soul giving it thereby a shape in all in her paintings.
