Arte de Cubanos.
Dayán Arce.
° La Havana, 1984.
The formal experimentation and its combination with conceptual searches are the passion of this young plastic artist. He therefore borrows from several styles, that make his work varied and rich from the aesthetic point of view.
On his canvas he blends the rich expressive resources of realism, surrealism, the appropriation, the pop art and the installation. Its art is characterized being basically renovator and humanist. Reflection of a whole existing world, trying to equip it with a critical and analytical sense, about its context social, and spiced with an immense load of irony. At the moment its work is divided in two slopes. On the one hand an art jeopardizes with the reality, product of its necessity to make include/understand the dangers that carry the wars and their influences in the humanity, and, in special in the children. It interests to him to have a critical position before this phenomenon, to judge it and to call to the reflection. The use of the object (dolls) and its de-contextualization to transform it into soldier, being acquired a symbolic connotation of the human being, and in individual of the boy, is something that always has called its attention to be a strong and ironic and at the same time reflective image. On the other hand it exposes a work of aesthetic plinths, reflection of a world of dreams and fantasies, where the new figuration and the surrealism are protagonists of this world that struggles between the beautiful thing and the good done.
